Obituary – Cleon D. Cannon
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Cleon D. Cannon, a cherished husband, devoted father, and faithful servant of God, who left this world peacefully on October 12, 2024 surrounded by his family at his residence under the care of Niagara Hospice after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 83 years old. Born in Renovo, PA, he was the son of the late Clifford A. and Cleora (Sliker) Cannon.
Cleon was a man of great integrity, unwavering faith, and deep compassion. His 62-year marriage to Rebecca ‘Becky’ was a beautiful testament to their enduring love and commitment, a bond that remained strong through all of life’s seasons. Together, they built a life full of joy, love, and treasured memories.
Cleon was employed for over 30 years as an Instrument Specialist with Goodyear Tire and Rubber in Niagara Falls, NY until his retirement in the early 1990s. An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing and archery. Cleon also enjoyed attending classic car shows. Above all, he cherished the time he spent with his family.
As a loving father, Cleon blessed the lives of his three children, Karen (Robert) Filocamo, Wanda (Eddy) Ockey and Paul (Gidget) Cannon. He guided them with wisdom, taught them with patience, and loved them unconditionally. His legacy of faith, kindness, and resilience lives on in their hearts, as well as in the lives of his beloved grandchildren, Anthony (Kristina) Filocamo, Dominic (Michaela) Filocamo, Christian DeJesus, Serena (Tyler) Frederick, Trevor Cannon, Kevin Cannon and his step-granddaughter, Erica (Christopher) Conrad; four great-grandchildren, Michael, Cecilia, Josephine, and Charlotte, and 3 step great-grandchildren, Cole, Chase, and Christopher; his five siblings, Clifford ‘Sonny’ (Carolyn) Cannon, Connie (Brayton) Maggs, Carlene (late Daniel) Siegel, Carlton ‘Cark’ (Rhonda) Cannon, and Charles ‘Chip’ Cannon, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was sadly predeceased by his step-granddaughter, Erin Ockey.
A man who lived his life anchored in faith, Cleon was devoted to the First Assembly of God (The Bridge) church community and always sought to be a reflection of God’s love. His life was marked by quiet acts of service. Though we mourn his passing, we find comfort in knowing that he is now at peace in the presence of the Lord he so faithfully served. We will forever cherish the memories of his laughter, wisdom, and the way he lived each day with grace and humility.
He will be deeply missed, yet his love will continue to guide and inspire us always.
