Open Enrollment Begins for North Bend Farm Life 4-H & Cloverbud Programs
By Autumn Gavlock
NORTH BEND – Excitement is building as open enrollment for the North Bend Farm Life 4-H & Cloverbud programs kicks off on Tuesday, October 1. This marks the start of a new year of enriching educational opportunities for youth in the community. The first committee meeting of the year will also be held that evening, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Grace Baptist Church in North Bend. Community members are encouraged to attend and get involved in supporting the area’s youth.
4-H programs are a part of a nationwide initiative designed to provide young people with hands-on learning experiences, leadership development, and a strong sense of community involvement. The North Bend 4-H & Cloverbud programs offer activities for children from kindergarten through 12th grade, with opportunities to engage in various skill-building projects.
Cloverbuds, the younger participants, will have the chance to explore a variety of engaging activities this year, including exciting science experiments, kid-friendly cooking, STEM projects, and animal exploration. This year’s featured animal is the sheep, which will be showcased across all age levels.
For those in grades 3 through 12, the program offers a range of project areas based on individual interests. Participants can select projects that align with their passions, with additional educational opportunities available in first aid and public speaking.
The North Bend 4-H program is thrilled to announce that Clinton County will once again cover the 4-H cost for the year, making the only expense for parents a $60 club fee. Additionally, the North Bend 4-H will be participating in the Flaming Foliage Parade, with a float themed around STEM. This event offers a wonderful opportunity for kids to engage in a local tradition, express their creativity, and make wonderful memories amongst friends..
Organization Leader, Midge Kramer is thrilled to launch another exciting year of 4-H and eagerly anticipates welcoming both returning and new faces. “I am committed to providing every child with the chance to make the best better—both for themselves and our community. I want to ensure that each participant has the opportunity to grow, discover their talents, and pursue their passions. While 4-H is often associated with animals and farm life, it actually offers a wide range of activities, including sewing, art, robotics, STEM, and more. This program opens up a world of possibilities for kids, recognizing that not every child is interested in sports,” Kramer explained.
Volunteers are always welcome and encouraged to join the North Bend 4-H team. Meetings for volunteers will be held on the 1st Tuesday of each month, starting in October.
