Obituary – Susanna L. Counsil
Susanna L. Counsil, 89, of Lock Haven, passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at UPMC Williamsport Hospital.
Born December 19, 1934 in Lock Haven, Sue was the daughter of the late Lenz D. And Arlene Stover Counsil.
Following graduation from Lock Haven High School in 1952, she obtained her nursing degree from the former Lock Haven School of Nursing, graduating in 1955.
Sue spent her career in healthcare as a Registered Nurse, retiring from Lock Haven Hospital in 2001 as the Director of Surgical Services.
She was a faithful member of the Dunnstown United Methodist Church, a member of the Red Hat Society, charter member of the Lock Haven American Legion Auxillary. As a strong supporter of the nursing profession, she was a proud member of the ANA, PNA and AORN associations.
Sue enjoyed reading and watching basketball. She was also an avid fan of NASCAR, Formula 1 and Indy Car racing.
She is survived by a sister, Patricia B. Goodrich; six nieces and nephews; nine great nieces and nephews; and four great-great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Edward C. Counsil, II.
Private services will be held at the convenience of her family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lock Haven Hospital Auxillary Scholarship Fund, Shriners Hospitals for Children, St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital, or a charity of the donor’s choice, all in c/o Donald G.
