Obituary

Vivian M. Mayes, 73, of Lock Haven passed away Saturday, June 18, 2022 at UPMC Susquehanna, Williamsport.

Born August 8, 1948 in Lock Haven, she was a daughter to the late Theodore and Esther Lever Toot.

Vivian was a graduate of Lock Haven High School.

She was married to Ira Cavin “Ike” Mayes who preceded her in death in 2008.

Vivian was a dedicated employee, working at Woolrich (Woolrich) for 18 years as a sewing machine operator and then at Woolrich (Jersey Shore) before being employed at West Company.

She was a member of the Jersey Shore American Legion Auxiliary, VFW and Moose.

She leaves behind two children: Melissa (Duane) Hanley and John E. Shade, both of Beech Creek; a brother, John (Susan) Toot; three sisters: Patricia (Vance) Peters, Joellen Litz and Gloria Bowes; five grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Cliffy W. Shade in 1997; a brother, Teddy Toot; and a brother-in-law, Mike Bowes.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 from 6 until 8 P.M. at Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington.  Private burial will take place at Rest Haven Memorial Park, Lock Haven.
