Charles B. Mallory, III

Obituary

Charles B. Mallory, III, 63, of Salona passed away after a courageously fought battle with cancer on Monday, May 23, 2022 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born October 15, 1958 in Lock Haven, he was a son of the late Charles B. and Virginia H. Caldwell Mallory, Sr.

Charlie was a 1977 graduate of Lock Haven High School.

In 1980, he joined the United States Air Force, serving during the Gulf War.  In addition to ranking Technical Sergeant, he earned many awards including Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal, Air Force Overseas Short and Long Tour Ribbons, Air Force Longevity Service Award, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon.  Chuck served during Operation Desert Storm prior to being honorably discharged in 1992.

On September 25, 2010, he married the love of his life, the former Trista J. McCann, with whom he shared 12 beautiful years of marriage.

Chuck was employed for various companies, operating heavy equipment or in construction.  Locally, he assisted with the dyke-levy project.  Eventually he started his own contracting business, Mallory Home Repairs.

He was a member of the American Legion, Lock Haven and the Sons of Italy.

Chuck enjoyed building things and was known as a jack-of-all-trades. He loved playing cards with his many friends, throwing huge backyard parties and going to casinos, where he was usually pretty lucky.  He also liked playing his guitar and was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan.  He loved the outdoors- especially hunting and fishing as well as golfing.

Charles was the hardest working, full-of-energy guy you would ever meet.  If you knew him, you knew humor, kindness, and selflessness.  He would help anyone at any time.  He did so much for his family, his community and his country.  He will be missed by so many.

In addition to his wife, Trista Mallory of Salona, he leaves behind his children: Misty Tressler of NY, Tawanda Snyder (Torrey) of Altoona, Caitlin Mallory (Tyler) of Lock Haven, Kyleigh Counsil (Blaine) of McElhattan, Jordan Barler (Geoff) of Mill Hall and Avery Barler (Logan) of Castanea; his siblings: Harold “Skip” Lee Letterman of MD, Amy Mallory Stevenson of Lock Haven, Wanda Diane Welch of FL, Daniel James Mallory of Mill Hall, Darryl John Mallory of OK, Dawn Renee Mallory of Lock Haven and Tammy Lee Shultz of Lock Haven; his grandchildren: Josh, Jonny, Christopher, Rory, Liam, Benny, Emerly, Thea, Warren, Jonah, James and Aleister; and many nieces and nephews whom he was close with.  He was proudly awaiting the arrival of his first great grandson due in July.

A Viewing for friends and family will be held at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc, 231 High St., Flemington on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at 12 Noon, concluding with a Military Service at 2 P.M.  Refreshments will follow at the American Legion, 20 S. Grove St., Lock Haven.
