By Bees O’Brien
Mill Hall- Camdyn Weaver silenced a tough Jersey Shore offense on Friday afternoon. Weaver tossed a complete game, 7-inning shutout against District IV 4A title contenders Jersey Shore in a 4-0 Central Mountain win.
Weaver struck out 5 Shore batters and allowed just two hits against a dangerous Lady Bulldogs lineup.
It was the second time in the week that CM toppled their bitter rival, following a 7-3 win on Monday in Jersey Shore. In that game, the Lady Bulldogs pounded out 11 hits in a 7-3 loss to Central Mountain.
Central Mountain grabbed a 1-0 lead following a single run in the bottom of the second inning.
Weaver went to work. The Central Mountain hurler began to pile up goose eggs in the Jersey Shore box score, while the Lady Wildcats’ offense struck in the bottom of the fifth inning. That at bat seen Central Mountain finally catch up to Shore’s Lenna Clark. The Lady Wildcats managed a 3-run inning to take the 4-0 lead.
Clark was equally as strong as Weaver until the deciding fifth inning and that inning was a result of Jersey Shore miscues that led to runs.
The Lady Bulldogs failed to mount any offense the remainder of the game.
The victory by Central Mountain puts their season mark at 10-1, while Jersey Shore drops to 9-4.
Central Mountain will be tested heavily on Monday when they host South Williamsport (11-2).
