PIAA Playoffs: Shik out, CM boys in
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP, PA – The Central Mountain boys basketball program got a Wednesday afternoon reprieve. Downed last week in the District 4/6 championship game, the Wildcats thought their season was over.
But word came Wednesday afternoon that Shikellamy High School, the team that defeated the Wildcats for their first district crown since 1979, had to withdraw from the PIAA tournament due to COVID-19 cases within the Braves’ program. The final decision did not come until Wednesday.
As a result, Central Mountain will move into the PIAA Class 5A quarterfinals. The team will play Friday at 7 p.m. at Lower Dauphin High School in Hummelstown. The Falcons are 19-3 on the year and won the District 3 Class 5A title last week by a 24-22 (not a typo) score over Cocalico.
Central Mountain is 7-12 on the year. Shikellamy had to bow out with a season-ending record of 9-12.
