Ten Years of Tradition: “A Little Magic in the Air” Brings Holiday Joy to Central Avenue
By Kevin Rauch
FARWELL – A Little Magic in the Air celebrated its 10th year Anniversary Saturday evening in Farwell, as the welcoming of all to Central Avenue has become a staple of the holiday season in the Renovo Area. With festive lights, plenty of surprises and kind smiles from the hosts, it’s hard to imagine a more perfect evening spent with neighbors and friends.
Yet somehow this year’s event was missing nothing of what you would see in a Hallmark movie as a steady snow slowly and gently fell down as visitors made the two mile round trek from Bucktail high school to the end of Central Avenue, being greeted by friendly smiles along the way.
Campfires along the road, Christmas music passing through speakers or from the Bucktail band and constant wishes of season’s greetings set the tone, but it’s the truly giving spirits along Central Avenue that make ‘Magic’ so unique and one of the best evenings of the year that western Clinton County has to offer.
Bags are handed out to the hundreds of youngsters walking the route (a trailer ride was also available) as they are treated to snacks of all types. Plenty of surprises lay in store for adults as well, but to be fortunate enough to take part in those, you have to be there as a wink of good cheer secrecy makes indulging in those even more fun.
In an ever changing world the last decade has seen very little stay the same as it was ten years ago. Fortunately for the hundreds of us that made the holiday walk through Farwell to celebrate ‘A Little Magic in the Air’, we’re able to see the night only get better year by year, leaving with gratitude from one of the best displays of holiday magic that we will see throughout the Christmas season.
