Obituary – Debra Kay (Watkins) Geraty

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Debra Kay (Watkins) Geraty.  Deb was born on July 27, 1958, and passed away peacefully on September 23, 2024, at The Gatehouse in Williamsport, surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the beloved daughter of the late Floyd James and Jane Marie (Heverly) Watkins.

Deb was a 1976 graduate of Bald Eagle Nittany High School. Deb dedicated over 30 years of her life to Woolrich and continued her career for more than a decade at Truck-Lite where she had many coworkers over the years whom she loved and considered family.  She was affectionately known as Nan to her work family who made her daily workday enjoyable. Her professional accomplishments were outshone only by her greatest blessings – her grandchildren, Dylan Shayne (Olivia) Geraty and Victoria Addison Kay Guthrie, along with her step-grandchildren Kalib (Danisha), Cody, and Kassie Guthrie, and her cherished step-great-grandson, Hudson.  They brought immense happiness to her life, and she treasured every moment spent with them.

Surviving are her only daughter and son-in-law, Tania and Brad Guthrie of Mill Hall; her “other half” of 17 years, Bob VanHorn of Mill Hall; Bob’s children, Jennifer (Kevin) Fullmer and Duane VanHorn; her siblings: Barb (Ron) Heverly, Jeff (Christina) Heverly, and Floyd (Jill) Watkins; as well as many nieces and nephews she cherished.  Deb also has a brother, Jimmy Watkins, who she is now rejoicing with in Heaven.

Deb loved her Jeep, Daisy, which brought her joy and adventure, as well as being on the water in her kayak and 4-wheeling in the deepest water holes and mud she could find.  Deb had many friends she enjoyed socializing with and was a member of Sons of Italy and Castanea Fire Hall.

Deb will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and the love she shared with everyone around her. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.

A memorial gathering will be held at Cedar Heights Brethren in Christ Church, 37 Cedar Heights, Mill Hall, on Monday, September 30, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Memorial contributions in Deb’s name may be made to either the Hillman Cancer Center or The Gatehouse, c/o Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, PA 17745.
