Lock Haven Labor Day Regatta Returns with Exciting Lineup of Events

The annual Lock Haven Regatta Foundation Labor Day Regatta is set to kick off this year from Friday, August 30, through Monday, September 2, 2024. This exciting community event, a staple in Lock Haven for over half a century, marks an unofficial end to summer with a weekend packed full of activities, including power boat racing, a carnival, food vendors, live music, and a spectacular fireworks display.

The volunteers of the Labor Day Regatta Foundation are thrilled to present the 53rd edition of the Lock Haven Labor Day Regatta. The event will run from 6 p.m. on August 30 until 8 p.m. on September 2, offering four days of fun and entertainment for attendees of all ages.

Power Boat Racing Schedule

A highlight of the regatta weekend is the power boat racing, drawing competitors and spectators alike. The boat races are scheduled as follows:

  • Saturday, August 31, 2024: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Sunday, September 1, 2024: 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Monday, September 2, 2024: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Opening ceremonies, officiated by Lock Haven Mayor Joel Long, will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 31, setting the stage for a weekend of thrilling races and community celebration.

Midway and Carnival Fun

The regatta’s midway is a major attraction, featuring a wide array of food, drinks, and games that promise to keep families entertained throughout the weekend. The midway will be open during the following times:

  • Friday, August 30: 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Saturday, August 31: 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Sunday, September 1: 12 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Monday, September 2: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Live Music and Entertainment Lineup

The Stephen Hill Memorial Stage, located at the corner of Water and Jay Streets, will host a variety of live performances throughout the weekend:

  • Friday, August 30:
    • 6–10 p.m.: Leadfoot presented by the Labor Day Regatta Foundation volunteers.
  • Saturday, August 31:
    • 12 p.m.: Schlesinger Communications Live Radio Broadcast featuring the Honda Pioneer 700 Side-By-Side Giveaway with Dotterer Equipment.
    • 3 p.m.: Red Wednesday
    • 7 p.m.: Rize
  • Sunday, September 1, presented by Bear Country:
    • 12-9:45 p.m.: Annual WQBR Bear Bash featuring performances by Mix Tape, Kopper & Kash, Ridin’ Shotgun, Kidz at Heart, Victor and the Icons, Leo and Kristen with Family Tradition, and The Clark McLane Band.
  • Monday, September 2, presented by the Lock Haven Regatta Foundation:
    • 12–3 p.m.: Quarterstick
    • 5–8 p.m.: Chris Woodward’s Shindiggin’

Fireworks Display

To cap off the festivities, a dazzling fireworks display is scheduled for Sunday, September 1, at 10 p.m. In the event of inclement weather, the fireworks will be postponed to Monday, September 2, at 9 p.m.
