LOCK HAVEN – The new paint job in the large courtroom in the Clinton County Courthouse is heading into the home stretch.

A courthouse spokesman said it is expected the project will be completed by sometime in September. The county commissioners had approved the improvement project bids in February, the general construction contract to Wheary, Inc. of Jersey Shore for $288,215. The electrical work is being done by TurnKey Electric of Williamsport at a cost of $39,875. The project will also include a new judge’s bench and the jury box is being rebuilt on the courtroom’s east side to provide easier access for jurors from their deliberations.

The large courtroom had been plagued by falling ceiling paint in recent years. The county had made provision in February to take the large courtroom out of use for the repainting. The coronavirus then hit in mid-March and court proceedings have continued, but on a “virtual” basis.
