Ditty’s career-high lifts Bucktail past CMVT, 63-34

Bloomsburg- Bucktail was missing one of their top players in Gavin Pick on Tuesday night at Columbia Montour Vo-Tech. Pick, who was missing the MPC battle with the Rams due to an illness was filled in nicely by sophomore Aidan Ditty.
Ditty scored a career-high 24 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and his Bucks walloped the host Rams 63-34. Brody Pentz also collected a double-double in the win by scoring 12 points and grabbed 11 boards. Senior Ethan Charcalla drilled a trio of three-point baskets to finish with 9 points. Talan Ditty also had a solid night for the Bucks by scoring 8 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
CMVT fought hard in the first half against a strong Bucktail team. The Bucks led by just a slim 9-7 count after one quarter and managed just 12 points against a pesky Rams’ squad at the break.
Bucktail’s 21-14 lead expanded to 37-14 in a hurry behind the scoring of Ditty. The Bucks began the second half on a 16-0 run within the first five minutes of the third quarter to put the game away for good.
A 23-7 third quarter Bucktail advantage gave head coach Travis Fantaskey’s squad the 44-21 lead heading to the game’s final quarter.
With reserves and both teams’ JV units in for the fourth quarter, the Bucks used a 19-13 final frame to close out the game.
CMVT fell to 2-8 on the season, with their only victories coming against winless Benton.
Bucktail racked some major 4A playoff power points with the victory and improved to 4-5 on the season and even their Mid Penn Conference record to 3-3. The Bucks will face another MPC East team on Friday night when they host conference favorites Northwest (10-3, 5-0). The Rangers are coming off of an impressive 54-30 win over Muncy. Friday night’s game is a special boys and girls “Pink Out” double header. The Lady Bucks open the night against Northwest (7-2, 3-0) at 6pm.
