Haircuts, Health, and Happiness: Hair Fair and Wellness Day Returns to Robb Elementary on Saturday, Jan. 11

LOCK HAVEN— Robb Elementary School is gearing up for the eagerly anticipated second annual Hair Fair and Wellness Day. The event is scheduled for Saturday, January 11, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the school’s cafeteria. Spearheaded this year by Principal Tyler Barth, along with the innovative efforts of Jeanie Robinson and Sarah Grimes, who coordinated the very first Hair Fair and Wellness Day in January 2024, the event promises to offer a unique blend of community service and individualized care for students enrolled at Robb Elementary.
The Hair Fair and Wellness Day at Robb Elementary launched in 2024 with great success, thanks to a large turnout and the generous participation of local hair and dental professionals who volunteered their time. This year, it’s back by popular demand.
The event provides free professional haircuts from seven talented local cosmetologists. Among them is Jeanie Robinson, owner of Scissorhands Salon in Howard, who also played a key role in coordinating this year’s Hair Fair and Wellness Day. A few other prominent hairstylists who will be returning again this year to provide their haircutting expertise include Stephanie Walizer, owner of Country Cuts Hair Salon in Mill Hall, and Amanda Long and Jenna DeGarmo, hairstylists at The Hair Refinery in Mill Hall.
The Hair Fair is open not only to current Robb Elementary students but also to their siblings. “Free haircuts can be provided for siblings as long as at least one sibling attends Robb Elementary,” Principal Tyler Barth explained in a recent post about the event on the school’s Class Dojo app.
Time slots for haircuts are available every 15 minutes, and parents can reserve slots through the sign-up link posted in the Class Dojo app. Principal Barth clarified that parents and caregivers should reserve a separate time slot for each child to ensure that stylists have adequate time to work their haircutting magic.
Signing up for a haircut in advance “is definitely recommended, but not required,” Grimes mentioned when speaking to The Record. Time slots are quickly filling up, and organizers are expecting a high turnout— a testament to the success of last year’s Hair Fair and Wellness Day. As of January 2, 2025, there were already 35 students signed up.
In addition to free professional haircuts, a dedicated team of professionals from the Clinton County Community Dental Clinic will be offering free dental and oral health checks, underscoring the organizers’ commitment to supporting not only the confidence but also the well-being of students at Robb Elementary.
While students wait for their haircuts and oral health checks, administrators of the Robb Elementary Champion program will be providing engaging activities, ensuring an enjoyable experience for kids.
This year’s Hair Fair and Wellness Day is sure to give students a boost of confidence, making for a positive start to a new year.
