‘Shore gals pull away for 55-41 win over Central Mountain
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP, PA – The Jersey Shore girls’ basketball team, first in the Heartland Conference, was challenged by the Central Mountain Lady Wildcats Wednesday night, but a strong fourth quarter allowed the Lady Bulldogs to pull away for a 55-41 win.
Central Mountain was in a 10-10 tie after one, down 26-20 at halftime. The two teams picked up their scoring in the third period, each with 19, the score 45-39 at that point. But ‘Shore outscored the home team by a 10-2 clip over the final eight minutes for the final 55-41 margin.
Outstanding ‘Shore sophomore Peyton Dincher led all scorers with 25 points, backed by teammate Jocelyn McCracken with 12. CM got 8 points each from Kiahna Jones and Keely Rohrbach, 7 from Tara Mader and 6 from Danica Kelly; other points came from the Doyle twins, Taylor and Ava each with 4, and 2 from Macy Plowman.
Central Mountain was 1-for-5 from the foul line, Jersey Shore 12-for-17. The Lady Bulldogs sank five 3-pointers, including three from Dincher; Central Mountain was 0-for-5 in 3-point attempts.
Central Mountain held senior night Wednesday and honored seniors Kiahna Jones, Marisa Wheeler and Tara Mader. Also honored was senior book scorer Angel Wheeler
Jersey Shore is now 15-3 overall; Central Mountain saw its two-game winning streak stopped and dropped to 5-12. The Lady Wildcats will be at Selinsgrove (4-14) Friday night.
