(Editors Note: Though our traditional coverage usually does not include schools outside of Clinton County, this playoff game is of at least some importance to our readers … and the fact that at least a few of the Bulldog players, coaches and staff hail from Avis and Pine Creek Township … we thought it would be interesting to test out some of our new technology and offer coverage of the game with live updates from the sideline.)

DUBOIS – While Jersey Shore may have come up on the short end of the score board in their quest to advance in the PIAA state playoffs, the team, their coaches and fans have much to be proud of when considering how the Bulldogs performed tonight.

Some key mistakes were committed that cost them scoring opportunities in the Red Zone, and there were a few ocasions where the defense may have gave up just a bit too much … not once did they show one ounce of quit in their effort. Even in the face of certain defeat, they were not satisfied to finish without proving to everyone concerned, that they could still put together a scoring drive and finish on a positive note.

Holding Clearfield to a 7-0 advantage at the end of the first half impressed many pundits when predicting the outcome of this matchup. Clearfield came into the game with a strong history of success, lauding several players that will have strong consideration for All-State honors. Conversely, the Bulldogs had to claw their way into the post-season brackets purely on hustle and determination.

In the second half, Clearfield found their momentum and added 20 more points to their total. Throughout that time, Shore continued to line up and play their hearts out believing they could climb back to balance out the score. Never once yielding to their touted foe.

The Dawgs lone TD came in the last minute of the game on a one-yard run by Utoafili Agae-Naipo, followed by a two point conversion on a Logan English to Derek Leese aerial connection.

In the end, the “Dog Soldiers” came up short in the tally, however, this game could be the spark and kindling to mark a much brighter future for Jersey Shore football for many years to come.
