County unemployment rate remains unchanged

HARRISBURG, PA – Clinton County’s unemployment rate remains unchanged for the month of November, according to information released this week by the state Department of Labor & Industry.

The county’s rate was 4.5%, the same percentage as listed in October. One year ago, the county had a jobless rate of 5.8%. The state information indicates that Chester County had the lowest rate of the 67 counties, checking in at 2.7%. Clinton County’s 4.5% was tied for 37th, while Forest County had the highest unemployment rate at 5.8%. The overall Pennsylvania rate for November was 4.0%.

For the week ending December 24, the county had 68 residents file for initial unemployment benefits. About one-third of the filers were listed as being in the construction field. The continued claims number for the county was 401 residents for the same week in late December. One year ago, the continued claim number was 377.
