Christmas Concert Sun. Dec. 7
Renovo Area Community Choir presents:
“A Dickens of a Christmas”
The Renovo Area Community Choir will present their Christmas Concert, Sunday December 7, 2014, 2 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Renovo. The afternoon begins with songs from the musical “A Dickens of a Christmas” written by Sally K. Albrecht and Jay Althouse based on “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens. Sylvia Moore will narrate the story as the choir takes us through the various scenes and characters in this famous novel. The audience will be swept back in time to England in the 1800s as the story of Ebenezer Scrooge unfolds.
The concert continues with songs indicative of that era – “Here We Come A-Caroling!” (a celebration of British Carols), “In the Bleak Midwinter”, “God Rest You Merry, Gentlemen”, “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing”, “Coventry Child” (What Child is This), “An English Carol Medley” (a selection of traditional English Carols), and “God Bless Us, Everyone” from the Broadway musical A Christmas Carol.
Come early for an extra treat as the Holiday Brass Quartet (David Sorgen, Shelley Sorgen, Glenn Hosterman, Ron Miller) plays a variety of selections beginning at 1:45 p.m. and again during intermission.
May we all learn from Scrooge to ”know how to keep Christmas well.” Join us for an afternoon filled with songs of the season.
