Wildcats stunned by Huskies

LEWISTOWN, PA – Playing their fourth game in five days, the Central Mountain baseball team came up short on Friday at Mifflin County, the Huskies scoring early and often on the way to a resounding 16-6 six-inning win.

Mifflin County was only 2-9 coming in but jumped on the Wildcats early with three runs in the first, one more in the second and an eight-spot in the third. When the Huskies added four more in the sixth, the game ended on the 10-run rule, the final 16-6. The loss dropped Central Mountain to 9-2 as they prepare to host Williamsport (6-2) on Monday.

Sophomore Brady Myers was the first of three Central Mountain pitchers and while he was touched up for 10 runs, only three were earned as the Wildcats committed four errors. Ashton Probst, coming off an ankle injury and Dallas Alexander finished up. Xavier Smith worked into the fourth inning, giving up one hit and two runs to pick up the Huskie win.

Central Mountain had eight hits, including two singles each from Gardy Fravel and Aaron Miller. Nate Helms had a double, Cayde McCloskey a triple and singles from Kevin Grenninger and Connor Foltz. Foltz finished with three RBIs. Smith led the Mifflin County offense with three singles as the Huskies piled up 14 hits; they were aided by the four Wildcat errors and picked up six walks and one hit batter.
