Billy L. Hess

Billy L. Hess, 82, of Cassville, passed away Saturday, January 15, 2022 at UPMC Williamsport Hospital surrounded by his family.

Born March 24, 1939 in Huntington, Pennsylvania, Billy was the son of late Bill and Ada Ramsey Hess.

Billy was a Christian by a faith, attending church in Todd, in the outskirts of Cassville.

He attended Robertsdale High School, leaving in 9th grade to help support his family. He had an extensive career with PennDot and was also an over-the-road truck driver for many years.

For the nine months prior to his passing, Billy lived with his daughter, Betsy. He loved spending time with his grandchildren when they would get home from school.

Throughout his life he enjoyed just about anything involving the outdoors- especially hunting. Billy also loved traveling.

He was a member of the Tough Creek Grange.

Most important to Billy was the time he spent with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren, in his hometown of Cassville.

Surviving are his two daughters: Betsy (Scott Johnson) Chilcote of Flemington and Ruthann (Kenneth) Snair of Orbisonia; his son Leonard (Teresa) Hess, Sr. of Port Royal; a sister, Althea Didyk of Todd; a brother, Gail Hess of Maytown; 14 loving grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, William Hess and a brother, Dayton Hess.
