LH JAMS Festival Planned for August 13 & 14

LOCK HAVEN, PA – ARE YOU READY? Well, to quote Smokey Robinson, it’s time to Get Ready for the 6th annual LH JAMS festival coming to Lock Haven on August 13 and 14. The Clinton County Arts Council is ecstatic to bring the full array of artists, fine crafters and musicians that will fill the streets of Lock Haven later this summer. After more than a year of quarantine and canceled events, the 2021 version of LH JAMS will exhilarate, invigorate and enrich all that attend.

New this year are the variations of musical performances and the addition of a Friday evening downtown concert.
The common thread among these juried artisans and musicians is their unique and extraordinary talent.

Performances will span a wide range of musical genres. You will take an imaginary trip on the rhythmic beat of a Colombian jazz club, then be transported on a innovative musical jaunt to the deserts and canyons of the American West. Next on your journey will be a classic Juke Joint, a stop at the Apollo Theatre, followed by Beal Street and then you will reach your final destination at Hitsville U.S.A.! From the popular sounds of Motown and R&B to Alternative Country, Jazz and the Blues, the 2021 version of LH JAMS will simply be a spectacular infusion of music, art and food.

In all, there will be 11 hours of free music by 6 different bands over the span of the festival. The Hex Highway Blues Band will be the opening concert with their foot stomping electric blues sounds on Friday evening from 6 to 8:30 pm.

On Saturday there will be 5 featured bands that will begin at noon and end around 8:30 pm.
In addition to Hex Highway, featured bands will include Café y Petróleo bringing their traditional rhythms of Colombian,Venzuela and crossover jazz. Billy Price needs no introduction except ‘It ain’t no Juke Joint without the
Blues’ followed by The Vince Tampio Jazz Quintet’s performance that will be a tribute of American Jazz standards.
Company Townes is an Alternative Country band that blend powerful vocals and exceptional instrumentation into a fresh and ingenious compulation of traditional Country & Western music.

York Street Hustle is the Northeast’s premier 10 piece Motown band that specialize in the 1960’s classic sounds of Detroit, Memphis and Chicago soul.

The York Street Hustle performance will be the annual LH JAMS collaboration with the Summer Concert Series and will take place on Main Street at the Elks Patio stage. A complete lineup, sampling of musical styles and performance times can be found on the website at lhjams.org

LH JAMS is also expanding to a two block area from Jay to Vesper streets on Main Street to coordinate with The Pedestrian Mall where local clubs, pubs and restaurants will offer a variety of food and drinks. Many will offer outdoor cafe seating where patrons can enjoy a delicious meal while listening to an afternoon and evening of exceptional music.

All musical performances will take place on the 2 stages on Main Street. The Clinton County Arts Council created the LH JAMS festival to be both an art enrichment and business stimulus event in the urban setting of downtown Lock Haven. Over the years, the festival has proven to be a destination and not just an event,
where visitors stay for long periods enjoying art and music in this block party atmosphere.
