Commonwealth University Lock Haven to Host Public Health Matters! Community Event May 10

LOCK HAVEN— Commonwealth University Lock Haven (CU-Lock Haven) will host Public Health Matters! from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, at the Poorman Amphitheatre and Commons, located at the corner of Fairview Street and Glenn Road in Lock Haven.

The non-partisan event is open to the public and aims to highlight the impact of public health, showcase local health resources, and highlight the importance of public health education. Organizers have invited speakers from the North Central Area Health Education Center, American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), as well as CU-Lock Haven public health education graduates. Statewide public health and healthcare associations are also invited.

Attendees will have a chance to visit information tables representing Roads to Peace (Clinton County Women’s Center, Inc.), AR Health, AIDS Resource, North Central Area Health Education Center, and CU-Lock Haven student health clubs.

Additional activities include DJ music, giveaways, free snacks and food, and games. Free parking is available on Glenn Road behind the Glennon Infirmary and Public Safety Office.

“We want to offer area residents, senior citizens, students, faculty, and staff the opportunity to learn about the impact of public health upon the lives of everyday Americans and how potential funding changes could affect our communities.,” said Rick Schulze, professor in the Department of Biological and Health Sciences.
