Obituary
Lee J. McHenry, Jr., 92, of Mill Hall, passed away Sunday, May 23, 2021 at his home.
Born June 10, 1928 in Lock Haven, he was the son of the late Lee J. and Myrtle Irene Warner McHenry, Sr.
Lee was a 1946 graduate of Lock Haven High School and a Veteran of the United States Navy where he was stationed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
On April 27, 1949 in Cumberland, Maryland, he married the former Bessie Peter, who survives.
Lee retired as an Electrician at Hammermill Paper Company following 39 years of service.
From 1970 to 1988, Lee and Bessie owned and operated McHenry’s Fabric Shop in Avis. After the closing of the fabric shop, they operated a produce stand out of the store parking lot for several years.
He was a member of the McElhattan United Methodist Church and a past member of the Masonic Lodge of Lock Haven.
Lee enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing and loved his annual beach trips with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, John (Linda) McHenry, Diane Nichols, Jeffery (Darcy) McHenry, Tammie (Russell) Weaver and Terrie (Chris) Moore; a son-in-law, Steven Johnson; two brothers, Jerry (Nancy) McHenry and Calvin McHenry; a sister, Betty (Bill) Rosser; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Lee was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan J. Johnson, who passed February 3, 2021; and four siblings: Mildred Simcox, June Dolan, Gloria Keen and Doris Bressler.
A Celebration of Lee’s Life will be held on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at 11 A.M. at the McElhattan United Methodist Church, 502 McElhattan Dr., McElhattan, PA 17748 with Rev. Jay Saldana officiating.
Friends and family will be received at the church from 9 A.M. until the time of the service.
