Zane Strunk – Obituary

Zane Strunk, 87, of Salona passed away peacefully on Monday, May 10, 2021 at The Gatehouse of UPMC Divine Providence.

He was born June 20, 1933 in Flemington, the son of the late Charles “Bud” Strunk and Bernadine MacGregor and was raised by his maternal grandmother, the late Leah MacGregor.

After graduating from Lock Haven High School in 1952, Zane served in the United States Navy as a Boiler Tender until being Honorably Discharged in 1956.  Throughout the years, he advanced his education by completing numerous college-level technical courses.

On November 28, 1957, he married his love, the former Patricia M. Myers, with whom he shared 63 years of marriage.

Zane was employed as a truck mechanic at E.D. Myers International and then as a shop foreman at Penn Dot, retiring in 1996.

He was a lifetime member of Citizens Hose Fire Company, Lock Haven.

Zane was also a member of the Liberty Township Sportsmen’s Club where he excelled in marksmanship.

He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman and also enjoyed photography.

In addition to his wife, Patricia Strunk of Salona, he is survived by four children: Z. William (Penny) Strunk of Mill Hall, Jane (Jeff) Dent of Salona, Christine Talarico (fiancé, Tom) of Cary, NC and Kay (Stan) Stelevich of Plymouth; seven grandchildren: Thomas (Brittney) Dent, Susan (Adrienne) Corral, Jaime Strunk, Kari (Cody) Steinbacher, Andrew Talarico, Kyle Talarico and Zane Stelevich; and three great grandchildren: Carter, Amber and Hunter.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 14, 2021 at 10:30 A.M. at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, Pa 17745.  Private interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lock Haven.

Friends and family will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 6 until 8 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to Liberty Township Sportsmen’s Association, The Gatehouse c/o Susquehanna Health Foundation or a charity of your choice.
