New Bakery Locating in Downtown Lock Haven
LOCK HAVEN, PA – “The quintessential small town bakery” is how Valerie Simone describes her new bakeshop nearing readiness on E. Main Street in downtown Lock Haven.
Located in the former Inspiration’s Floral Shop, the new venture should be open around the end of October or early November. Valerie and husband Ken Simone relocated to the Lock Haven area earlier this year and as Mrs. Simone told therecord-online, they looked about and saw an opportunity for a bakery.
She said the bakeshop will include a large variety of baked goods, from layer cakes to cupcakes, pies, cookies and pastries and virtually everything in-between. She said the new owners are open to suggestion and “will see what sells and respond.”
Mrs. Simone said they had previous experience with the bakery business with a restaurant/bakery in Alabama and said patrons there enjoyed “cheese sticks” so the Simone’s sold multi-flavored cheese sticks by the dozen.
The couple was busy on Wednesday, adapting the former floral shop to its new use as contractors made modifications to the first floor business, which will also include a sit-down area for pastry and coffee. Mrs. Simone said they are awaiting some new equipment and hope for a soft opening later this month.
Hours of operation will be Tuesday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
