Berkshire Hathaway Energy/Dominion Update

TAMARACK – Barring unforeseen circumstances, later this year Berkshire Hathaway Energy will take ownership of the Dominion Energy’s natural gas storage facility at Leidy and Dominion’s natural gas transmission system. The $9.7 billion transaction was announced on July 5 and word at the time said the purchase is expected to close in the final quarter of this year.

Therecord-online has done a follow-up on the possible impact on Dominion’s Leidy operations where there are 55 employees plus another 10 or so who are based out of Leidy. At this point, it is anticipated operations will remain basically as is when the sale is completed on or around Oct. 1; also that existing contracts in place are expected to be honored by Berkshire and/or a newly named company. There is no word yet on what the new name will be but new signage is expected to follow.

Employees at Tamarack are represented by UGWU Local 69 and a recent Facebook post from union leadership said it that the union’s current four-year contract with Dominion “must be honored” by the new ownership. More recently the union leadership said discussions have begun with the union’s labor attorneys and with representatives from Dominion.

Over the years Dominion Energy has established strong roots in western Clinton County, with donations of volunteer manpower to multiple civic events and financial support for worthy causes in the Renovo area.
