LHU Hosts Local Veterans with ‘Giving Thanks’
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. — Lock Haven University welcomed more than 160 veterans to the Durrwachter Alumni Conference Center on Monday, Nov. 18 for a free “Giving Thanks” dinner. The Thanksgiving-style dinner was served by volunteers from various local organizations. It was the second consecutive year that the university held the event with the help of the Clinton County Veterans Affairs Office.
Sponsors for the event included: Harger Utility Contractors (HUC), the LHU wrestling program, the Sons of Italy, VFW Post 1630 and M & R Contracting. Volunteers from Leadership Clinton County, LHU’s Student Veteran Alliance, the Girl Scouts, VETS+ and the LHU baseball team also were on hand to help out and express their appreciation to attendees and their families.
“We do a lot of things for veterans here at Lock Haven University and we’re always looking to do more to honor not only our veterans, but our current service men and women,” said Dr. Robert Pignatello, LHU president. “Not only is it important that we thank our veterans for their sacrifice, but we want to thank their families, as well.”
