Geisinger Completes Property Purchase for Lock Haven Clinic

LOCK HAVEN – Geisinger Clinic has completed a $1.93 million purchase of several connected third ward holdings as part of a plan to build a new health services clinic.

City zoning/code officer Cyndi Walker has confirmed that Geisinger closed on two plots last Friday, one owned by Town Homes at Susquehanna Square LP for $480,000, the other from Shaner Investments Lock Haven Hotel LP for $700,000. Those purchases follow a closing earlier this year in which Geisinger paid Patrick and Pamela Bigatel of Seattle $750,000 for a parcel containing five town houses abutting W. Fourth and Spring Sts.

With the closings completed, Walker said she was able to release additional information on the Geisinger plans. They call for a 30,000 square-foot building to house nine physicians and 75 employees. The proposal includes 170 parking stalls.

Walker also said the city has received word that Geisinger will pay property taxes on the land. She said the purchase of the three plots, covering better than four acres, will be a “positive” for the city. She said she has yet to see final drawings.

No time frame has been announced as the town house occupants are leasing their residences and reportedly may stay until their leases end. The city zoning official said the property closing is the latest step in a two and a half year effort. She said Geisinger considered seven different communities before choosing the Lock Haven site which had previously been the old Lock Haven High School football practice field.
