Local Officials Hopeful Property will be Utilized Again

LAMAR TOWNSHIP–The Baker Hughes complex in Lamar Township is no longer for sale. The company announced in late September that the natural gas industry pressure pumping facility was on the market after slightly more than three years of operation. The asking price was $10 million, and at least two interested companies were reported to have looked at the site.

“We were told today that Baker Hughes is doing a full reassessment of its properties and that is one reason it was pulled from the market,” said Clinton County Economic Partnership President Mike Flanagan. “The company also recently announced a pending transaction that will create a North American land pressure pumping company, and that also spurred the action. We hope it’s all good news and time will tell.”

The site is about 38 acres and contains six buildings with a total of about 95,000 square feet under roof. Baker Hughes began operations in December 2015 and at one time had over 200 people working out of the facility.  Due to the low cost of gas and an oversupply, the facility closed in March 2016. The price of natural gas has increased slowly but steadily since that time.

The site had carried a $37 million development price tag.
