Obituary – Carmen E Masorti

Carmen E Masorti 91, of Castanea PA, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, father in law, brother and treasured friend by many, passed from this life into our heavenly father’s arms at the Gate House in Williamsport, PA. on Tuesday April 8, 2025 with his daughter and granddaughter at his side.

Carmen was a lifetime fireman of the Castanea Fire Co, past chief and Director of the Social Club for decades. The fire company was his life. He had and enjoyed many friends far and near thru his lifetime of dedication. Carmen retired from his second love, The Meat Grinder Butcher Shop, which he and his family operated for many years in Castanea. He was also a member of the Sons of Italy, District Firemen’s Association, Clinton County Firemen’s Association and a lifetime member of the Castanea Fire Co. He also served in the United States Army and a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Lock Haven. He enjoyed his great grandchildren swimming in his pool, which he still maintained for them today. Sitting in his garage most days watching the grass grow, tinkering with something or other, with fly swatter in hand while visiting with his many friends that stopped to check in on him.

Maybe a beer or two while shooting the breeze. His biggest accomplishment in life was his family. His wife Sondra who he married in 1960 and preceded him in death in 2020, his only child, Terri Masorti Holderman and her husband Randy of Bellefonte, his only grandchild , Chelsea P. Bechdel and her husband Todd of Howard and of course, his cherished great grandchildren, Ady Grace and Lane Douglas Bechdel, and his faithful 4-legged companion Holly, who will also miss him dearly. He built his family home beside his parents in Castanea where he resided all his life.

Surviving also, of his 11 brothers and sisters, is Mary Shields and Robert Masorti, both of Castanea and many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his son in law, Douglas J Pletcher in 1991 and his parents, Philip and Regina Masorti and nine brothers and sisters.

Raise a glass to you, Dad

We wish to thank Geisinger at Home NP and RN, Michelle and Melissa, for the many years of care and compassion they have shown my father. And also, to the many UPMC Hospice Nurses at his home and at the Gate House for the great care this last year, making sure he was loved and cared for. And to his cherished caregiver, Racheal, who took care of both my parents until the end. I can never thank you enough for making them both feel their best with the exceptional love and care you provided. You gave your whole self to my Mom and Dad…… Forever grateful. And Ron, Jeff and Cynde for ALWAYS being there. His brother Bob and Sister Mary for keeping a close eye on him. And of course , all his faithful friends and family that have helped my Dad and I with a visit or phone call over the last few years. Forever my friends.
