Mark the Shark Toy Drive enters 31st year, collecting donations Sunday at Walmart
By Christopher Miller
LOCK HAVEN – Local radio talent Mark Schlesinger is at it again with the 31st annual Mark the Shark Toy Drive.
Setting up for a day’s long event under fairly warmer skies, Mark and the crew will be accepting new, unwrapped, toys, bicycles, game donations, and cash to buy toys at the Mill Hall Walmart on Sunday, December 8 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event is in partnership with Clinton County Toys for Tots.
“100% of the donations stay within Clinton County,” Mark told The Record on Wednesday evening. “We use over 20 different local organizations and agencies to distribute the toys such as Clinton County Children & Youth, Salvation Army, Infant Development, Keystone Central School District, school nurses and counselors, and daycare centers.”
Throughout the day, other local organizations will be coming by the radio tent, set up outside, to make donation presentations.
“We know of Woolrich Fire Company, Terrapin, Central Mountains ATV Association, and Dunnstown Fire Company to name a few,” Mark said. “At 1 p.m. Dunnstown Fire will be showing up with a fire truck full of toys.”
If all goes well, between 1,100 and 1,200 children will be served from this project, now entering its 31st year.
“We serve all different levels of people in need, some people may need a lot more than others, and we rely on our local organizations to use their discernment to find these families and kids that have needs in our community,” Mark explained.
“Please help make it a Merry Christmas for Children right here in our area. You can listen to the live Radio broadcast on 92.1 WSQV, 106.9 WVSQ or the live stream wsqvradio.com and follow us on facebook,” the most recent Facebook post said.
