Optimist’s Roundtable

By Martha Sykes

This is the day which the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it. Each and every day of our lives is a gift from our Lord; given to us freely, to use as we wish. It has been said that, “ Tomorrow is God‘s secret, but today is yours to live, so live it for Him”.

Some days we just have to stop and think about what we truly believe. Let’s face it, about the time we think everything is going well, we find out that something upsetting happens . Lately it seems that so much sadness has surrounded us and when it affects someone close to us or someone we care about, we realize that we are helpless. It causes us to ask, ”When will this ever stop?” And then we realize that it just goes along with all the questions we have about life. There is nothing we can do to change the situation but pray. We have to keep our faith, and hope for better days.

We just have to keep God in the center of our lives and even though God knows everything about us, the good and the bad, he still loves us and wants us to just trust in Him.

We have that choice every day to believe in Jesus Christ and if we take Jesus into our hearts, our lives will be filled with the Holy Spirit and our lives will reflect what we believe.

Just like a newborn baby sees the world for the first time was such a newness, if we become a believer, our lives, too, will be a time of newness also. A new hope for eternal life, a new peace in our hearts, a new love that is everlasting that is given to us by Christ and a new way to live.

So, as we have those days when we start to wonder what is going on, we just have to realize that there is good and bad, dark and light, but in looking back over what goes on in our world, we realize that it is our faith and trust in the loving God that matters. He is the One who has already carried us through some tough times.

Let us continue to trust that God is right beside us and let us pray a prayer of gratitude for the strength that He has given us to overcome these troubled times and thank Him for the gift of another day!
