Lady Wildcats will be tested in first round against WPIAL’s Lady Warriors

MILL HALL- Central Mountain softball will get to see an old foe on Monday at home in the PIAA 5A softball playoffs. The Lady Wildcats will draw District 7’s second place team in 20-3 Penn-Trafford. Central Mountain ran over Trafford 10-0 in last year’s state bracket, but the Lady Warriors are much improved and will give the Lady Wildcats a fight in Mill Hall.
Penn-Trafford’s offense is led by Giuliana Youngo and Bella Rubbe. Youngo went 4 for 4 in their 14-11 win over Chartiers Valley, including a home run. Rubbe connected on a double against North Hills in a 7-0 win.
Sophomore Allyson Paulone handles the Lady Warriors’ circle work. Paulone tossed a 1-hitter in that 7-0 win over North Hills. Paulone held a strong Shaler team to just 4 hits in a tough 2-1 WPIAL championship game loss.
The 15-1 Lady Wildcats are coming off a hard fought 3-1 District 6/9 subregional win over DuBois and will be tested against Penn-Trafford. Joslyn Shultz struck out 9 Lady Beavers to help lead the Lady Wildcats to Monday’s meeting with the Lady Warriors.
Taylor Doyle, Ava Doyle, Camdyn Weaver, Cirstyn Watson, Katelyn Bowman, Aubrey Eiler, Rylan Andrews and Cora Myers have all had stellar seasons for Central Mountain and their roster is loaded with plenty of deep ball threats.
Central Mountain can utilize the small ball game better than anyone, so don’t be surprised to see some Lady Wildcats square up against Penn-Trafford.
Game time is set for 4pm at Central Mountain High School in Mill Hall.
