A Mission Rooted in Faith and Service Pregnancy Resource Clinic New Lock Haven Location: A Second Site Brings Expanded Care to Clinton County Families

By Autumn Gavlock
LOCK HAVEN — After more than four decades of compassionate care in Central Pennsylvania, the Pregnancy Resource Clinic (PRC) has opened the doors to its second location—this time, in the heart of Clinton County. The new site, located at 53 W. Main Street in Lock Haven, officially launched with a grand opening celebration on Friday, April 11, 2025, marking a major milestone in PRC’s mission to offer life-affirming services to individuals navigating pregnancy, parenting, and sexual health decisions.

Founded in 1984 in State College, PRC exists with one deeply held conviction: people matter. That belief rooted in the truth of John 10:10, “I have come that they may have life, and have it abundantly,” has remained the heartbeat of the organization for over 41 years. Through its biblically inspired mission to educate, encourage, and empower individuals to make informed life choices, PRC has become a trusted source of support, healing, and hope for thousands.

“Partnered with the local church, the Pregnancy Resource Clinic stands as a beacon of hope and a pathway to ending abortion,” said Jenny Summers, Executive Director of PRC. “At Pregnancy Resource Clinic, our mission for the last 41 years has been to educate, encourage, and empower men and women to make informed life choices because we believe PEOPLE MATTER and we hold this belief because Genesis 1:27 declares us image bearers of our Creator, God. A Mission Rooted in Faith and Service.”

The Grand Opening in Lock Haven was nothing short of historic. Nearly 300 guests filled the sidewalks and newly renovated building making it one of the most well-attended Grand Openings the Clinton County Economic Partnership and Downtown Lock Haven Inc. have ever hosted. Attendees came from near and far, including Missouri, State College, Williamsport, Danville, and Lewistown.

The day began with corporate prayer, led by PRC staff, board members, and local pastors, who gathered to pray for the mission, future clients, staff, volunteers, and the Clinton County community. The Knights of Columbus, representing councils from State College, Bellefonte, and Lock Haven joined in blessing the new ultrasound machine, a life-saving tool funded through their generous support. Deacon Chip Young presided over the blessing. The formal ribbon-cutting ceremony followed at noon, welcoming the public into a facility PRC hopes will serve as a beacon of hope for generations to come.

This milestone has been years in the making. In 2010, while speaking at a Lock Haven church, PRC’s Executive Director Jenny Summers was asked whether the organization would ever consider opening a clinic in Clinton County. Though the timing and finances didn’t align then, she never forgot the question. By 2015, the PRC board granted its blessing to pursue the idea, and Summers began meeting with a coalition of pastors, all of whom supported the vision to expand PRC’s presence.

Between 2018 and 2024, PRC made significant strides in the Lock Haven area, hosting community information nights, presenting to local civic groups like the Kiwanis Club, Knights of Columbus, and Catholic Daughters, participating in health fairs, applying for grants from the Clinton County Community Foundation, and conducting diaper distribution days at First Baptist Church. In 2022, a generous investor purchased the Main Street property to lease to PRC. Just over a year later, in January 2024, a donor family stepped forward to fund the full purchase of the building, formerly owned by beloved local physician Dr. Long. His daughter, June, shared her joy in seeing the space continue to serve the community with compassion and care.

Now fully renovated, the Lock Haven clinic is staffed by a dedicated and mission-minded team: Site Director Jen Redmon, Clinic Nurse Erin Owens, RN, and Office Associate Jenn Braun. In addition to the local team, you may also encounter staff and volunteers from State College who float to Lock Haven, providing supervision, oversight, and support. This practice reflects the original vision for the Lock Haven site to model the operations, processes, services, and heart of the ministry, ensuring continuity of care and a consistent standard of excellence across both counties. As the clinic continues to grow, the team is hopeful to add supportive positions as funding becomes available, further strengthening the services offered to the community.

Redmon, a former educator, first became involved with PRC after attending a community information night in 2018. Moved by the mission, she began volunteering at local outreach events, including diaper distribution days, church presentations, and community fairs. Over the years, she helped coordinate donation drives, represented PRC at civic group meetings, and mentored new volunteers all while serving as a key representative between the organization and local churches through her involvement with Tri-County Church and the Mill Hall Kiwanis Club. Her dedication and leadership quickly made her a trusted voice in PRC’s Lock Haven expansion efforts, and in 2024, she stepped into the role of Site Director to lead the new clinic. Redmon and her husband, Casey, pastor of Tri-County’s Mill Hall campus, reside in Dunnstown and support their two children in their college and ministry journeys.

“This is a God-sized dream that has become a reality,” said Redmon, reflecting on the opening of the new Lock Haven clinic. “And to all of our patients and to all the faces we have yet to meet, we want you to know that we believe YOU MATTER.”

The new site provides a wide range of services, all free of charge, thanks to the generosity of over 1,622 donors, 64 churches, and 80 supporting businesses. These services include pregnancy testing, providing women with lab-quality tests and immediate results in a supportive environment. Parenting education offers one-on-one mentoring and practical classes that help expecting and new parents build confidence and prepare for the challenges of raising a child. Through material assistance, families can access essential baby items like diapers, wipes, formula, and clothing, resources earned through participation in educational programs. Abortion recovery care provides a safe, confidential space for individuals to process past abortion experiences and find healing through peer support and faith-based counseling. Options education ensures that each client receives accurate, compassionate information about all available pregnancy options—parenting, adoption, and abortion, empowering them to make informed decisions. Soon, the clinic will also offer ultrasound services to confirm pregnancy and assess fetal development, and STI testing and treatment, expanding PRC’s ability to support clients’ overall sexual and reproductive health. These essential services are supported by PRC’s partnership with the Pennsylvania Department of Health and its status as a Private Provider, which has helped save the community over $1.1 million in direct and indirect medical costs.

Clients who engage with PRC’s parenting programs can earn points to use in the Baby Boutique, which offers new and gently used clothing for children up to age two. In 2024, PRC distributed 89,352 packs of EveryLife diapers and 2,337 packs of wipes. A tremendous blessing made possible by a donor who funds the purchase of EveryLife products. Tracie Dominguez, a representative from EveryLife, traveled from Branson, Missouri, to attend the Grand Opening and show support.

Each year, PRC provides over 1,290 appointments, serving more than 553 patients and impacting over 158 families. In 2024 alone, more than 70 babies were born to families served by PRC. “Some of our most beautiful moments are when those families come back to introduce their new babies to us,” said Summers. “We become like family to many of our clients.”

Summers, who began her career at the Centre County Youth Service Bureau and joined PRC in 2008, credits God’s faithfulness with every step the ministry has taken. A graduate of Lancaster Bible College, Summers lives in Mingoville with her husband, Todd, and their eight children, three of whom are in college, with five still at home. “This work has taught me more about God’s grace and provision than I ever imagined,” she said. “Without Him, this ministry and its growth would not be possible.”

Just weeks after the Lock Haven opening, PRC hosted its largest annual fundraiser to date, The 2025 Fundraising Banquet on May 13 at the Bryce Jordan Center. The event welcomed over 1,000 guests, representing 103 churches, and raised $534,198.89, including a $100,000 matching gift. Vice President of the PRC Board, Michael Madeira, served as Master of Ceremonies and reminded guests of the heart behind the mission by quoting John 10:10: “I’ve come that they may have life, and have it abundantly.”

The banquet was a celebration of what PRC calls “wins”, when a scared couple chooses life, when a father steps into his role with confidence, when someone healing from abortion finds peace, and when a donor sees the fruit of their generosity and becomes a long-term partner. Guests listened to powerful stories from PRC patients and families whose lives were impacted by the clinic’s support. The event featured moments of worship music, group prayer, and a shared meal that encouraged fellowship and meaningful conversation. As the night concluded, attendees were invited to partner financially with the mission, resulting in a record-breaking outpouring of generosity to support PRC’s ongoing work.

PRC is a proud affiliate of Care Net, the National Institute for Life Advocates (NIFLA), and the Pennsylvania Pregnancy Wellness Collaborative (PPWC),organizations that provide accountability, best practices, and continued encouragement for PRC’s work.
