HYNER – The Greater Renovo Area Heritage Park held their Annual Meeting Tuesday evening at Good Neighbor Craft House in Hyner.

During the meeting, the board held their election of officers with all prior officers being elected for another year’s term and the election of Deb Clary to the Board.

During the President’s address, Mary George Rhone discussed an outline of what the board accomplished in the past year.

“We’ve had murder mystery dinners, concerts, the ATV ride is coming up on September 14, sadly we had to cancel the poker float due to low water that weekend,” she said. She also discussed how everyone involved at the organization are friends but they truly consider each other to be a close-knit family.

“We are looking forward to serving the Renovo community and keeping the history alive,” she ended.

The purchase of five rail bikes was also announced and those will be delivered by the end of September.

Recipients for the Heritage Park Awards were also announced.

Community Impact Award: Vinnie and Kate Kishbaugh
“They are a huge supporter of the community, bringing entertainment to the area and collaborating with the board members of the Renovo Heritage Park a great deal right from the beginning of starting their business here,” Mary George said.

Young Leader Award – Evan Hillyer
“This young man has helped us out for the past three-to-four years with sound and lights for our plays, built props, and volunteered his time on occasions,” Mary George said.

Founder’s Award – Vinnie Tarantella
“Vinnie is a past board member who still remains an active member, he spruces up the tipple area and keeps it mowed for us without even asking,” Mary George said.

Tourism Director Kira Rosamilia also spoke at length about Renovo.

“Renovo has everything and should be a destination town,” Kira said. “It has everything a person would want as far as outdoor recreation goes with its outdoor sports for the outdoors enthusiast, and for those seeking peace and solitude.”

Upcoming projects for the Renovo Heritage Park include the coal tipple area, roof repair at the Maxwell Building and moving forward with a third floor railroad museum, and a lumber heritage mural project on the 120-side of Service Garage. “We hope to have that ready by next summer,” Mary George mentioned.

Mary George also thanked the people on the outside of the heritage park who support the mission: Katelyn and Christopher Miller for building the Facebook page and website, Kate and Vinnie Kishbaugh, Lumber Heritage Region, and PA Wilds.

Local dignitaries present for the annual meeting were Clinton County Commissioners Jim Russo and Angela Harding, LaKeshia Knarr with PA Wilds, Kira Rosamilia, and Ann Tarantella, Renovo Borough Council President, where Renovo Borough “is a huge supporter” of all things the Renovo Heritage Park does.
