Bulldogs Edged by Shamokin, 30-28

JERSEY SHORE-The challenging early season schedule continued tonight for the Jersey Shore football team as undefeated  Shamokin (3-0, 1-9 PHAC) made the trip to Thompson Street stadium.
The Indians came in shutting out its last two opponents (49-0 over Shikellamy and 42-0 over Lake Lehman in Week #2) while the Bulldogs got its offense untracked last week vs. rival Selinsgrove scoring 42 unanswered points and going on to win 55-21.
In the game, called the War at the Shore…Shore opened to scoring on its second offensive possession on a 3 play drive with an exciting 55 yard pass from Jordan to Paul Hale at the 7:59 mark of the first quarter.  The Herr PAT was good and the Bulldogs took the early lead, 7-0.
Jersey Shore continued to move the ball offensively and put together a 6 play drive with Jordan scoring on an 18 yard run to up the lead to 13-0 with 37seconds remaining in the first quarter (PAT missed).
Shamokin needed to respond and did so after a 7 play drive ended with a Steele to Shuey 7 yard pass play at the 5:39 mark of the second quarter.  Pensyl PAT was good and the Shore lead was reduced to 13-7.
Shore responded to the Indians score with another one of it’s own after an 8 play drive.  Jordan capped the drive with a 1 yard QB rush at the 3:24 mark of the second quarter.  Shore extended the lead to 20- 7 (Herr PAT).
Shamokin responded one more time prior to halftime on a 58 Steele to Pensyl pass and run (Pensyl PAT) and the score at the half was Jersey Shore 20-14.
In the second half, Shamokin took its first lead of the game on a 6 yard run by Za’Kem Clinton at the 8:09 mark of the third quarter.  Pensyl PAT made the score, Indians 21-20.
Jersey Shore was not to be denied and after a nice drive, converted on a 15 yard pass play from Jordan to Paul Hale.  The score came at 5:32 (Herr PAT0; Jersey Shore reclaimed the lead 28-21.
Shamokin responded with a Logan Steele 13 yard run at the 2:51 to reclaim the lead (PAT missed); Shore maintained a 1 point lead 28-27.
The game was decided after a 12 play Shamokin drive at the 1:56 mark of the 4th quarter.  After the Bulldog  defense made a stand, Chase Pensyl kicked a 27 yard field goal to give the Indians the lead at 30-28.
Shore put together one final drive but Andre Bell came up with an interception to seal the game for Shamokin.
With the win, Shamokin moves to 4-0 (2-0 PHAC), the loss drops Jersey Shore to 3-1 (1-1 PHAC).
The Bulldogs go on the road to Shikellamy next Friday; kick off at 7 PM.
