Seals Get Back to .500 With 41-13 Win Over Central Mountain

SELINSGROVE- With a trip to high powered Williamsport looming next week, Selinsgrove could not afford a hiccup at home against Central Mountain on Friday night and early on it looked as though the underdog Wildcats were planning to give the Seals everything they could handle and then some.
Selinsgrove weapon Gavin Bastian would strike first on a short-field 35 yard punt return for the game’s first score.
Down 7-0, back would come the Wildcats and quarterback Hunter Hoy. Hoy would knot things up for the Wildcats on a 12 yard scamper. Mycah Carson’s kick would tie the game at 7-7 with 3:15 remaining in the quarter.
Bastian would strike again. This time he would do the damage on a 33-yard rocket from Seals’ quarterback Rocco Amato. That score would give Selinsgrove the 14-7 lead after one quarter of play.
Selinsgrove would grind out two second quarter drives to begin to gain control of the contest. Ethan Miller would score from 4 yards out before Bastian would find the end zone for his third score of the night on a 1-yard run.
Central Mountain would trail 27-7 at the break, but it would be Gavin Bastian who once again would give the Wildcats a shot in the arm. Amato would connect with Bastian on a 70 yard pass play. Noah Walter’s kick would give the Seals a 34-7 lead.
The fourth quarter would begin on a positive note for CM when Isaiah Maldonado would connect with Jase Seltzer on a huge 95-yard scoring strike. The Wildcats’ kick attempt would be missed.
With 32 seconds remaining in the game, Selinsgrove’s Adrew Martinez would return a CM fumble 45 yards for the score and set the 41-13 final score.
The Wildcats fell to 0-4 and will have a tough trip to Shamokin (4-0) this coming Friday. The Indians will be coming off of a huge 30-28 win over Jersey Shore.
