Mill Hall’s E. Church St. bridge closed indefinitely-Open to Pedestrian Traffic

From Staff Reports

MILL HALL – Mill Hall Borough Police posted on their Facebook page earlier Wednesday that the bridge on East Church Street between South Water Street and Danis Street within the borough (also known as Duck Bridge) is closed indefinitely.

According to a comment on social media, the bridge is still open to pedestrian traffic.

Mill Hall Borough Council President Tony Walker spoke with The Record and mentioned that Mill Hall Borough “does not currently have the funds available to make the needed repairs to keep the bridge open to vehicular traffic.

The bridge was built in 1973 and the most recent bridge inspection report rated it as being in “poor” condition.

Less than 24 hours ago, a performance report audit of the PennDOT bridge inspection process was released to the public, showing “that the system needs improvement,” according to Auditor General Timothy L. DeFoor.

The Basic Bridge Report found online through PennDOT reports that the bridge owner is listed as: CITY, MUNICIPAL, HIGHWAY AGENCY, OR BOROUGH.

This is a developing story. Please check back with The Record/therecord-online.com for more information.
