Obituary – Edward H. Packer

Edward H. Packer, 95, of 1020 Long Run Road, Mill Hall, PA passed away peacefully at his daughter’s residence on July 1, 2024, with his family by his side.

Edward was born on May 1, 1929, and was the son of the late Ira E. and Mahalda Holt Packer. He was united in marriage on January 22, 1951, to Dorothea Conner Packer who preceded him in death on October 12, 2017.

Edward graduated from the Mill Hall High School and subsequently joined the U.S. Army where he served from 1951 to 1953. He was employed at the former Hammermill Paper Company, Webb’s Super-Gro, and the International Paper Company in Lock Haven, from which he retired as a turbine operator.

Edward was an avid sports fan and was especially happy when he had an opportunity to watch his grandchildren and great grandchildren play any kind of sport. He loved his family and was most contented when he was spending time with them.

Edward is survived by four daughters: Pamela E. (Gary) Rockey of Mill Hall, Carrie M. Packer of Boalsburg, Sherry L. (Tom) Yarrison of Mill Hall, and Teresa D. (Mike) Fisher of Mill Hall, PA.

He is also survived by four sisters: Esther Rauch, Doris Packer, Carrie Packer, and Grace (Leon) Bidwell. Also surviving are five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Edward was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Packer Sr, three sisters, Phyllis Lynn, Lois McKissick, Elsie McClintick, and a grandson, Michael A. Fisher.

Funeral services for Edward H. Packer will be held on Monday, July 8, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Cedar Heights Brethren in Christ Church, 37 Cedar Heights, Mill Hall, PA. Officiating will be Reverend Kenneth Lynn.

Family and friends will be received at the church on Sunday evening, July 7, 2024, from 6-8 PM and one hour prior to the services on Monday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either UPMC Hospice, 1100 Grampion Blvd, Williamsport, PA 17701

or to the cancer research charity of your choice.
