Wildcat First Round Pairing for AAA NW Regionals
ALTOONA – With Central Mountain taking a contingent of 12 wrestlers to compete at the AAA North West Regional, fans are curious who the Wildcats will face first.
Demetri Probst (152), and Hunter Weaver (220) both received a bye in the first round and will have to wait until Round 2 to toe the line.
Three Wildcats will face some familiar faces in Altoona from their regular season schedule.
At 106, Geo Barzona, the runner-up at D6, will face a familiar District 4 foe, Frank Quinones of Shik who placed second at District 4. Barzona demolished Quinones with a 17-2 technical fall in 3:35 at the dual meet back in December.
Emery Watson at 138, who finished fourth in District 6 will also meet up with a Shikellamy Brave, Nick Cashdollar the District 4 champ at 138. The two did not meet in the regular season dual.
In an odd rematch, at 170 pounds, Gavin Caprio, the District 6 runner-up will face Shik’s Joe Snyder in the first round who placed second in D4, . These two faced off in the dual meet in Dec. 2014 at 182 pounds with Caprio winning the tilt by a 7-2 decision.
