Tarantella Announces for Commissioner
RENOVO – Lifelong resident, retired government employee and current small businessman, 52-year-old Vincent V. Tarantella, Sr. has announced his intentions to run for the office of Clinton County Commissioner in the May 19 Democratic primary election.
Honorably discharged from the military services in 2012, Tarantella served with distinction in the U.S. Marine Corps, Army, and Pennsylvania Army National Guard in multiple capacities, including the Middle East war zone three times, during his 33 year military career. Deployed 7 times with the military on one-year deployments to locations all around the world, Tarantella is most proud of his final activation and deployment with the PA Guards, serving as the First Sergeant of the Unit responsible for ending the ground operations of the Iraq war in 2011-2012.
He earned over 22 ribbons and awards during his busy military career including multiple Navy Achievement medals, multiple Army Achievement medals, Meritorious Service medal and the Bronze Star to name a few. Tarantella also recently retired January 2015 with 21 years as a Federal employee from the Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Prisons at the Allenwood Prison Complex where he worked as a Supervisor with the Facility Power Plant Department there.
He was an Officer for the AFGE Government Employees Union Local 4047 serving as treasurer of the Local for over ten years and was responsible for hundreds of thousands of dollars of Union funds. In addition to being a purchasing agent and credit card holder for the Federal government, Tarantella assumed the responsibility for many large repair and replacement projects for the Federal government while working at the Allenwood Complex over his career. He was singlehandedly responsible for the design, procurement and installation of a massive warehouse freezer and cooler replacement project worth over $300,000 that was installed by him with his in-house work detail. His final project before retiring from Allenwood was working directly with private engineers and sales associates in planning, designing and estimating a future industrial chiller replacement project for the Complex Power House with costs estimated over three million dollars.
Vince is also co-owner of “Tarantella’s Sudsy Pup LLC” company with his wife Deborah A. Tarantella. They have been managing and operating the successful small business at the 10th street location in Renovo since 2009 expanding the business over the years to include a new paved parking lot, building improvements, and renting to Renovo’s first-ever veterinary office located in their building also.
Tarantella was past President (current member) of the local Sons of Italy Lodge for 12 years and was the Officer responsible for the initial remodeling and improvement plans of the Renovo Lodge. He is currently the Post Commander of the Renovo VFW Memorial post 6178 for the past 8 years. He is a member of St Joe’s Church, Bucktail Marine Detachment of Renovo, American Legion, Flaming Foliage Festival, and the Renovo PRR organization. He is also an Officer of the Renovo Heritage Park committee responsible for repairing and rebuilding the Heritage Organization’s railroad assets in Renovo. He is a member of the PRRT&HS (railroad historical society) and in his free time he enjoys train riding, model railroading, antique collecting, traveling, hiking, hunting, picture taking, camping, ATV riding, boating and simply enjoying the outdoors.
Married for 32 years to his wife Deborah Tarantella, they are proud parents of a LHU graduate son, Vincent Tarantella Jr. who works at Quehanna Boot Camp as a recreation supervisor. Vince Sr. is a 1980 graduate of Bucktail Area High school and resides in Renovo.
