LHU’s Turek named CSC Football All-District Team

GREENWOOD, IND – Lock Haven football standout offensive lineman Joe Turek (Armagh, Pa./United) was named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, the organization announced on Tuesday (Dec. 19).

The 2023 Academic All-District® Football Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

To be eligible, a student-athlete must have a 3.50 cumulative GPA and be a starter or significant reserve – playing in at least 90 percent or starting in at least 66 percent of the team’s contests.

Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced on January 23, 2024. The CSC Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed at the links above.

In the classroom, Turek, posted a 3.823 GPA as a sports management major.

On the field, Turek was named to the All-PSAC East Second Team Offense on the offensive line. His tremendous play and leadership up front paved the way for the Bald Eagles’ potent run game and high-scoring offense.

Lock Haven’s offense averaged 154.8 rushing-yards per game, the fifth-best mark in the PSAC. The Bald Eagles ranked top-10 in scoring and passing offense as well.

Lock Haven finished the season with five wins which served as the first five-win season since 1982.

Turek, a key member of the 2023 senior class, played a pivotal role in the 2023 success and will be remembered forever for their efforts in the program’s remarkable and quick turnaround.
