Owen’s Leads Women’s Track & Field at Pioneer Fast Trax Invitational

UTICA, NY – The Lock Haven women’s indoor track and field team Pioneer Fast Trax Invitational Saturday hosted by Utica, and saw a number of Bald Eagles put on a strong showing on the track.
The Bald Eagles took only runners to today’s meet as the throws team heads to East Stroudsburg tomorrow for the DeSchriver Invitational.
Riyana Owens (Red Lion, Pa./Dallastown) once again led the way for the Bald Eagles and laid down a tremendous double, winning both the 60 and 200-meter runs. In the 60m, Owens ran a 7.70 in the preliminaries before bringing home the top spot in the finals. She followed that up with a 25.34 in the 200-meter dash to cap her stellar day. Both were good enough for Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying marks.
Gwen Lloyd (Red Lion, Pa./Red Lion (Towson)) took second in the 3,000 meters clocking in at 10:26.98. Anna Manley (Catawissa, Pa./Southern Columbia) grabbed sixth place in that race for the Bald Eagles at 10:47.10 as both runners came in under the conference qualifying time.
Natalie Gentzel (Yaphank, N.Y./Bellport) placed second on the 60-meter hurdles with a finals time of 10.03 as The Haven continued to impress.
In the 400-meter run, Hunter Barger (Mill Hall, Pa./Central Mountain (Clarion)) grabbed a third-place finish for HU and clocked in at 1:02.78.
Elaina Klinger (Danville, Pa./Danville) easily cleared the conference marks with a fifth-place finish in the mile and narrowly missed her personal-best at 5:19.41.
