Words of Grace
By Rev. Mahlon Nevel
Hebrews 2:9 begins with these words: “But we see Jesus.” We do not as yet see everything clearly, but we do see Jesus.
Hebrews 12:2 tells us to be “Looking unto Jesus.” That means to look away from all other things, and just fix our eyes only on Jesus.
Helen Lemmel, in a gospel hymn she wrote, encourages us to turn our eyes upon Jesus. When we turn our eyes upon Jesus and look fully into his wonderful face, then the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace.
Christmas begins with Christ. It is all about Christ. The following was written many years ago.
As now we celebrate His birth, The coming of the Christ to Earth, May we, amid or joyous mirth,
Keep Jesus first in Christmas!
As chiming bells ring out there lay, and hearts are merry, light, and gay, Remember it is His birthday-
Keep Jesus first in Christmas!
Let’s sing of him in Carol’s Sweet, Let’s lay our best gifts at his feet And make the seasons joy complete
With Jesus first and Christmas!
