Words of Grace – Dec. 4, 2014
The old song that became popular many years ago asked the question: “Who wrote the book of life?”
Philippians 4:3 refers to all those “whose names are in the book of life.” Revelation 22:19 is a warning to anyone who takes away from the book: “God shall take away his part out of the book of life.”
Life has been described as a book written in three parts: the past, the present, and the future. It’s not known who wrote the poem that follows, but it gives us a true picture of what life is all about.
“Life is a book in volumes three: The past, the present and the yet-to-be.
The past is written and laid away. The present we are writing every day.
And the last and best of volumes three. Is locked from sight and God keeps the key.”
Hebrews 13:8 pictures our Lord in the past, present, and future: “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.”
He said in Revelation 1:18, “I am he that liveth, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore.”
Jack Wyrtzen has written: “Yesterday He died for me. This is history. Today He lives for me. This is victory. Tomorrow He comes for me. This is myster.”
