Debra Jean Lewis

Obituary

On May 9, 2022, Debra Jean Lewis of Avis passed away at her home, leaving a huge hole in her family’s world.

Debra was born June 7, 1959 to the late Russell and Patricia Fisher.  She was the second oldest child following her late brother, Russell Fisher, Jr.  She has two younger sisters, Judy (Robert) Mundrick of Jersey Shore and Sara Fisher of Avis.  Sara was Debra’s lifelong best friend.  They never did hit the jackpot in the lottery, but they never gave up trying.

On June 12, 1976, Debra married her lifelong partner-in-crime, Steven Ira Lewis of Avis.  She was a fierce protector of Steve and took care of him until the end.  They would have celebrated 46 years together in just a few weeks.

Debra spent most of her life working for Scot’s Lo-Cost.  She made many friends and gained co-workers who became family members.

Debra was an amazing daughter as well as loving wife, sister and mother.  Her biggest blessings, though, were her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Debra is survived by two daughters she loved dearly.  She dedicated her life to Nichole (Donald) Andrus of Aaronsburg and Marie (Eric) Weaver of Marsh Creek.  She lived for holidays with her girls, and now they will be left to carry on the traditions she leaves behind.

Her grandchildren: Devin Andrus of Pittsburgh, Destiny (Dylan) Homan of Aaronsburg, Garen (Carleigh) Weaver of Marsh Creek, Jordan Andrus of Aaronsburg, and Kylan and Jocelyn Weaver of Marsh Creek held her heart in their hands.  Whether it was baking cookies, playing, watching their sports, or even the occasional 4-wheeler ride back in the day, they gave her some of her happiest times.

But Debra’s greatest joy was her two great grandchildren, Henry and Eden Homan.  They came into her life during her darkest days and gave her renewed motivation to fight.  She loved visits and Facetiming with them.  During her last days, some of her most peaceful moments were when someone would hold the videos of Henry and Eden laughing and singing to her ear.

Debra is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Please join her family in celebrating her life on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington.  Friends and family will be received at the funeral home from 4 until 6 P.M. A funeral service will follow with Rev. Tim Boger officiating.
