Salona woman sentenced in sexual assault case involving Jersey Shore student
WILLIAMSPORT, PA – Three years after she was arrested and charged with the sexual assault of a 15-year-old male, a Salona woman has been sentenced to two to ten years in prison. The sentence was imposed Thursday on Alexandria Sandra Kaluzny by Lycoming County Judge Marc F. Lovecchio. She must also register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law for 25 years.
Kaluzny had pleaded guilty in May of this year to three counts of indecent assault and one count of statutory sexual assault. The defendant had been a student teacher at the Jersey Shore Middle School in 2017 when her sexual relationship with the student began, according to the original arrest affidavit; that relationship continued for a year.
Asked by the Court why, Kaluzny’s attorney Michael Rudinski, said she does not understand that herself. According to a PennLive.com account of the sentencing, Judge Lovecchio said her behavior appeared to be an aberration; her attorney said she is very remorseful.
The victim now resides in Maryland. His parents have filed a suit against Kaluzny, the Jersey Shore School District and two administrators at the Jersey Shore Middle School at the time of the incident. The parents allege breach of duty by the school district upon becoming aware of Kaluzny’s activities.
