Work Continues
LOCK HAVEN – A crew from local contractor HUC, Inc was working this week to finish up a daunting project involving the placement of a 12-inch plastic “slip line” pipe inside 14-hundred feet of an out-of-service 16-inch iron pipe under the Susquehanna River at the head end of Boom Island. The scope of the work became more difficult when employees had to replace a ruptured section of the 16-inch line submerged under waist-deep water. The project is part of extensive renovations to the far-flung Suburban system, much of the work funded by a $1.28million state program grant, according to Suburban officials. Record photo – John Lipez
