Eck competes at PIAA track meet

SHIPPENSBURG, PA – Central Mountain senior Mallory Eck represented her school well at the PIAA state track and field meet in Shippensburg on Saturday.

Eck, the District 6 AAA champion, went into the competition with a 19th seed out of 23 competitors. She finished 18th with a throw of 34 feet. The Lady Wildcat field event coach, Ellie Sikorskas, complimented her for her showing in the adverse weather conditions, noting she threw around her overall average. Sikorskas said, “Even with the weather she did not complain once and we had an awesome time.”

Eck later talked positively of her PIAA experience: “Even though I didn’t accomplish my goal of beating my PR at states, I still had a great time. I am so thankful to have had the opportunity to go and compete among the best high school-ers in Pennsylvania.. It was really something to see girls throwing past the 40foot mark in the shot put. Now that my track and field career is officially over, I would like to thank my teammates, coaches, and everyone else who made it such a wonderful experience. I wasn’t expecting to meet so many great people, and I am hoping that they get the chance to do what I have and compete at states next track season”.
