Robert Russell Schadt – Obituary
Robert Russell Schadt, 85, of Castanea, has changed his address. He departed his earthly home on Saturday, April 17, 2021.
Born February 17, 1936 in Lock Haven, PA, he was the son of the late John William and Twyla Marguerite Poorman Schadt.
He was a 1954 graduate of Lock Haven High School. He attended the University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ. Post-graduate studies were at the University of California, Los Angeles, CA and the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA.
He joined the United States Marine Corps Active Reserves in 1952 during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1954. He joined the Active Marine Crops in 1954 and received an honorable discharge.
During his career, he was employed as Division Advertising and Public Relations Manager for Singer Corp. and Itel Corp., both of San Fransico, CA and Unisys Corp., Rochester, NY. Later he was Marketing Director for the Roytype Division of Olivetti Corp., Union, NJ and Director of International Operations for New Pig Crop., Tipton, PA. He traveled extensively throughout the world in his various positions. He retired January 2, 1996.
Bob was a member of the Holy Spirit Parish, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Lock Haven. He was a life member of B.P.O. Elks Lodge #182, 40 & 8 Voiture Locale #903, and American Legion Post #131. He was also a member of Moose Lodge #100, Knights of Columbus- 4th Degree and a charter member and six-term President of the Ancient Order of Hibernians- Irish Settlement Division. He was a member of The Sons of the American Revolution, Member-for-Life of The Clinton County Genealogical Society and a former Board member of the Clinton County Historical Society. For years he was sexton of St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lock Haven.
Bob was an avid genealogist and historian. He produced many of the Genealogical Society’s publications. Some of his research work may be found at the Ross Library and the Clinton County Historical Society.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rosemary Jean Davis on January 4, 1989 and his son, Zane Lamont Schadt on December 22, 1988.
Surviving are his adopted daughter, Chandra R. Grider of Castanea and two sisters, Mrs. Gloria M. Harbach of Waverly, NY and Mrs. Mary Lee (Ted) Wentz of Martinsburg, WV. Also surviving are his beloved grandsons, Brayden Robert Fisher and Jaron Caleb Schadt of Castanea; many nieces and nephews; and his former wife and friend, Kathleen G. Schadt of Lock Haven.
A private Graveside Service will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions may be made to either Lock Haven Catholic School Library Fund of the Bald Eagle Boys Camp through the funeral home.
