Burnaford tabbed new Bellefonte school superintendent

BELLEFONTE, PA – The Bellefonte School Board has chosen to stay in-house in selection of the Bellefonte district’s new superintendent.

The board vote was unanimous Tuesday night to hire acting superintendent Tammie Burnaford. She had been serving as interim superintendent since last April following the retirement of Michelle Saylor.

A Centre County native, Burnaford has 33 years in education, the last 18 with the Bellefonte district. She previously served the district as principal of the Pleasant Gap Elementary School, then as assistant superintendent. She was approved for a 3-year contract with annual pay of $142,011.
